We have come a very long way since January 2024.
We started with zero plants and slowly started to grow our collection. 
Propagation V01: Cuttings
At first we worked by propagating mother plants in the Jardins du Gué - where I was also working as the caretake of the fabulous Ivy Collection (if you have ivy questions, don't hesitate to ask us, we 💚 Hedera). Division or cuttings or seed collection. At the time it was a system that worked for plant d'Avenir.
But in December of 2025, plant d'Avenir had grown so much that the nursery needed to move. 
(No more space for growth, as you can attest)
And so the nursery move to our orchard.
My husband and I spent many weekends preparing the transition - weed wacking with the help of our wonderful friends, cutting, flattening, throwing whatever was left over in the wood chipper. Thank you to everyone, especially to Julien.

Propagation V02: Seeds
One of the things that the transition has meant is that we no longer had access to the 20+ year old mother plants to create cuttings.
As I thought about how to adapt the company while still maintaining our resilient lines in the families, I decided to try my hand at seed-selection (sometimes known as selective breeding) for the flowering section of my collection.
Over the past two and a half years, I collected the seeds of over 70% of the plants in the nursery, saved them and watched them germinate, selecting the strongest from each lot and placing them in the nursery under observation so that they may earn their place in the garden.
The parent plants of our second generation survived five scorching heatwaves, winter frosts down to -10°C, and everything in between. Their seedlings are planted out into the same conditions, where only the strongest, healthiest, and most resilient plants are chosen to produce the next generation. Year after year, this natural cycle continues, with each generation building on the toughness of the last. It's a slow process, but it's one that creates plants with real-world resilience, proven not by perfect conditions, but by thriving in the challenges that nature throws at them.
Lots of little plants out in the world ready to brave heat, rain, frost, bugs, cats, dogs, the works!
