Sedum 'Chocolate Cherry' is an upright perennial with striking dark purple to maroon-tinted leaves and branching stems bearing clusters of rose-pink flowers from late summer into autumn.

The leaves - dark puple fleshy oval leaves that have coarsely toothed margins
The flowers - star-shaped pink, raspberry flowers in the fall.
Perfect for fall flowering, the sedum will provide the color boost all the way to the end of autumn - in a garden and windowbox alike.

👨‍🌾GARDENING TIP👨‍🌾: Sedum 'Chocolate Cherry'

    • SOIL: well-draining soils, including sandy, rocky, or calcareous substrate
    • EXPOSURE: Full sun
    • HARDINESS: -4°C
    • Light pruning will allow you to keep your Sedum in shape > you can even shape it into a ball over time and it will encourage branching
    • Looks great with Aristolae aristata, Sedum 'Angelina', Sedum pachyclados
    • Pinching in spring can also force stems to grow thicker and bushier and avoid scraggly flopping in the summer.

The Tales: Sedum 'Chocolate Cherry'

The genus name probably honor Telephus, King of Mysia and son of Hercules but don't quote me on that.

Petroleum hydrocarbon (PHCs) pollution is a global soil ecological problem and multiple studies have shown that the S. spectabile remediation system is effective for the removal of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) from soil, especially when assisted by two nanomaterials (nano SiO2, nano CeO2).

More importantly still is the ability to transfer the PAHs to easily harvested aboveground parts, thus facilitating the actual removal of the pollutants from the soil.

A real diamond in the rough.
