The leaves have a unique tangy flavour that is not for everyone - somewhere between celery and citrus and parsley I'd say. Tastiest before the plant begins its flowering period.

Gardening Tips

Do not discard unwanted plants in any natural areas, as this plant has a tendency to become invasive and is very difficult to tame once it has escaped!

The Botany
The Myth

In the Middle Ages in Europe it was a common food crop and medicinal plant.

It was first brought to North America during the early stages of European settlement as an ornamental garden plant, and was commonly used as groundcover.

It carries the common name Goutweed as it was used initially to treat gout.
It is also sometimes called Bishop's weed - not because they treated Bishops but because it escaped from the gardens of a fellow by the name of Bishop.
Proving, once again, that apostrophes are incredibly important.
